Dear Coach:
Please allow me to introduce myself. My name is Emily Johnson, and I am a 16-year-old goalkeeper.
You can watch highlights of my goalkeeping play and learn more about my background by visiting my college recruiting website at http://www.emilyjohnson.tv.
Since I have just completed my sophomore year in high school, I know that you are not allowed to contact me yet. But I would like you to know that I have been investigating colleges that I believe would be a good fit for me academically and athletically. I would like to invite you to check my website from time to time to monitor my progress. I will keep the site updated with new videos, my stats, and information on when and where I will be playing. Feel free to subscribe via RSS or email.
I am currently maintaining a 4.33 GPA at Scotts Valley High School. I plan to begin the International Baccalaureate program in my junior year with a focus on math and science. I am interested in pursuing an engineering degree.
If you watch my video highlights, you may notice that in the past, I have worn knee braces. During the 2007-2008 ODP process, I was diagnosed by my doctor as having patellar tendinitis in both knees due to my growth cycle. My doctor advised me to not play on more than one competitive team at the same time (for preventative reasons), so I stopped participating in ODP after fulfilling my first year commitment. I am no longer wearing knee braces since my knees are healthy at this time. Since being diagnosed, I have not missed a game or practice because of the patellar tendinitis, and I have now returned to ODP participation and was recently named to the 2010-2011 Cal North state pool and participated in the Region IV ODP camp.
Sincerely,
Emily Johnson

What My Coaches Say About Me
- Devvyn Hawkins MacBeth (former member U.S. Women's National Team, 2003 WUSA Champion Boston Breakers, 2001 National Champion Santa Clara Broncos): "Emily is an extremely talented goalkeeper; a leader on and off the field, and truly respected by her teammates. She is 'one of a kind' for her age. Her commitment to her game has excelled her talent and has allowed her to compete and shut out many of the top teams in our age group. Her exceptional shot blocking abilities and can’t beat me attitude have been the key to many of our successes as a team, and I am extremely confident that she has the ability to play and dominate at the next level. Any team would be lucky to have her!"
- Art Munoz: "Emily's decision making and communicative skills are excellent. She reads the game well, commands her box and organizes her defense. Emily is a smart ball distributor, strong in the air and does not yield rebounds due to her soft hands. Emily is a hard worker, easy to coach and makes her defenders more confident by her leadership skills."
