Santa Cruz County Breakers

For years, one of the most challenging opponents the Santa Cruz County Breakers 94G team has faced is the Central Valley Chilipeppers. Although we’ve beat them twice and tied them twice, our history against the Chilipeppers has not been great. More often than not, we have fought hard against them but ended up losing.

On May 22, 2010, we played a friendly against them and were pleased to defeat the Chilipeppers 2-0. As they had recently been runners-up in the CYSA state championships, it was nice to come away with a victory. It was encouraging to sense everything our coach has been teaching us come together and be reflected in an actual game.

My name is Emily Johnson, and I’m a goalkeeper. I will graduate from high school in June of 2013.

I am currently 5’ 9” tall, and I am still growing.
I am currently a member of the 2010-2011 Cal North ODP state pool and participated in the 2011 Region IV ODP camp. In July of 2008, I was named to the Region IV ODP Pool.
I am an 8-time 2010-2011 invitee to the US Soccer Training Center, which US Soccer describes as being for “elite players with National Team potential.”

In 2010 and 2011, I was named the Santa Cruz County Co-Goalkeeper of the year (both as a freshman and as a sophomore) by our area’s high school coaches. As a sophomore, I allowed only two goals during our entire league season. As a freshman, I led all Central Coast Section full-time goalkeepers with a 0.243 Goals Allowed Average (67 saves, 5 goals against, 17 shutouts out of 22 total matches).

I am a fierce competitor in goal.
